It’s September and you know what that means…
Pump up your tires and lube your chain because it’s time for Kidical MASSIVE!
That’s right, every Kidical Mass group the world over will be riding the same day and time. Let’s see how big a group PDX can gather!
Meet up at Essex Park at 10:00am on Saturday, September 16th. We ride at 10:30 to see the Belmont Goats! Ride is approximately 3 miles and will loop back to the start for those that want to drive the kiddos to Essex Park. There will be a nice long break in the middle to hang out at the goats. Bring $$ to donate to the goats’ upkeep and — because we’re parents too — there’s always a chance for treats along the way!
Essex Park is at SE 79th Ave and Center St. Among its amenities is a splash pad, so if it’s warm you might want to bring water gear and a towel to cool off after the ride.
Planned route is at https://goo.gl/maps/FgeGLZpK59u. As with all Kidical Mass rides, helmets required for those 16 and under, suggested for adults. We will ride together as a group and help all the kids learn how to ride in the street because Kids are Traffic Too!

In June, Kidical Mass PDX will ride in Milwaukie. We’ll meet under the leaf art at the SE Park Ave MAX station, and ride a mostly quiet route to Westmorland Park. Along the way, we’ll stop at Ohana Cafe for shave ice, so bring money for treats.
As always, helmets are required for children and suggested for adults. We look forward to seeing you there!
Starting time is 1pm at the SE Park Ave Max station.

In July, Kidical Mass PDX will be going bike camping! We will be returning to Stub Stewert State Park for an overnight July 15th-16th. The route is a lovely 22 mile ride on quiet country roads and the Banks Vernonia Trail.
For this trip, we’ve rented a van to drive cargo bikes out to the end of the Blue Line – to avoid the long trip out to HIllsboro. This is generally a kids as passengers ride, although older kids have historically done the ride without problem.
Plan to meet at the Goose Hollow Max stop Saturday morning at 10. We’ll load up cargo bikes into the truck, and then catch the train. The truck will meet us at the end of the Blue Line, and we’ll ride 22 miles from there. We’ll stop in Banks for lunch and groceries.
Plan to eat dinner and breakfast at camp, with lunch stops in Banks each way.
$30 per 6 person tent site. This includes the cost of renting the van. Money will be paid via paypal or cash that weekend.
Questions? Wondering if you can ride your cargo bike that far? Just ask!
Space is limited to 10 families. We hope you will join us!

Join Kidical Mass on Saturday, May 20th, at 1pm for our Treats Ride!
Do you like ice cream? Coffee? Cocoa? Will it be hot and sunny, or cold and rainy? Doesn’t matter! We’re prepared with a 3-mile (not a loop) ride that has treats whatever your taste, whatever the weather. We start at Sunnyside School’s playground (SE 35th and SE Taylor) and ride a fairly flat route to Piccolo Park. The stops will be adjusted for weather/attendees. Bring money for treats. Scoot bikes welcome!
As with all Kidical Mass rides, helmets required for those 16 and under, suggested for adults. We will ride together as a group and help all the kids learn how to ride in the street because Kids are Traffic Too!
