St. Patrick’s Day Parade!

Kidical Mass PDX will ride again in the St. Agatha School St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 16, and we need YOU to ride with us!

Join us for bike decorating at the Sellwood Park Playground between 10:30 and 11:30. We’ll have some decorations to share, but if you have ribbons, crepe paper, flowers, or anything else GREEN please bring it along. Snacks for sharing also very welcome. Costumes are great too!

We’ll ride over to SE 15th & Miller to line up for the parade around 11:30, and the parade starts at noon.

The Irish say: “You’ll never plough a field by turning it over in your mind.”

And so it is, too, that you’ll never ride a bike by turning the pedals in your mind.

The Irish say: “You’ve got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your father was.”

And so, too, must our kids learn do their own riding, no matter how many miles we ourselves have pedaled.

After the parade, stick around for the festival: a cake walk, carnival, live music, Irish dancers, and a beer garden, until 5pm. More info on the St. Agatha School festival here: http://www.stagathaschoolpdx.us/st_patricks_day.html

We ride at a kid-friendly pace (during the parade, even slower than usual) and in a large group. No one will be left behind– the focus is on having fun! Riders should be able to ride in a line, to follow verbal directions, and to stop at stop signs. Kids under 18 must be wearing helmets.
