Our first ride of the summer! Join us for bike decorating at Peninsula Park Saturday, June 18th, at 12pm. Afterwards, we’ll ride down the beautiful Bryant and Holman Street greenways to a nearby ice cream parlor, and finish up at Woodlawn Park. Bring money for ice cream!
As always, helmets are required for those under 18. This short route is not a loop. We’ll ride rain or shine!

This Sunday (9/16/2012), Clever Cycles is hosting the 3rd annual Fiets of Parenthood event. This is a family-focused (not just friendly) biking event. Streets outside of Clever Cycles will be closed to cars and there will be food vendors, kid and family-biking competitions and more. To help more people get there, KidicalMassPDX will be leading 2 bike trains to the event.
One we leave Peninsula Park at 10:30am, stop to collect more people at Irving Park (south-side playground) at 11:15am, and then arrive at Clever Cycles by noon. The other train will leave the North Park Blocks playground at 11:00am and head across the Steel Bridge, down the Esplanade, and then over to Clever Cycles by noon.
Clever Cycles is located at 900 SE Hawthorne Blvd and the event takes place from noon to 4pm. Please see their website at clevercycles.com for more details about the event itself.
As with all KidicalMassPDX rides:
-We will stay together as a group and follow all traffic safety laws.
-Helmets are required for children and encouraged for adults.
-Kids riding their own bikes should be able to ride in a more or less straight line, stop and start as necessary, and follow verbal directions.
(Updated 8/15 to correct the first stop.)
It’s August and it’s warm. Let’s ride for ice cream!
This Saturday, August 18th, the Kidical Mass ride has 1 or 2 stops for ice cream and 1 for playing. It’s a loop ride of about 3.5 miles, but with the breaks it shouldn’t seem too long. We will be going up the hill on SE Lincoln Street (from SE 52nd Ave to SE 54th Ave), but otherwise it will be a nice, easy ride.
We are starting at Clinton City Park, leaving from the playground area at 1pm. From there we will head west on Woodward/Clinton. The first stop is at the Salt & Straw push-cart for ice cream. Next we head just around the corner for play time at Sewallcrest Park. Feel free to buy other treats and eats and enjoy them at the park too! (While there the grown-ups can decide if we should also stop at Dairy Queen on our way back to the beginning.)
After our play-break we will head east on SE Lincoln to SE 56th Ave which will take us to (Dairy Queen and) a light where we can cross Division safely to return to the playground at Clinton City Park.
Hope to see you for some fun in the sun! Remember it is this Saturday, 8/18!
Here is a Google Map with our approximate route (it won’t allow routing on the paths inside park boundaries).
